The cannabis plant produces an oleoresin, which contains medicinal inorganic byproducts. Due to the polarity of the oleoresin, the light hydrocarbon process is extremely effective. 


1. PLANT PREPARATION

The first step of the process, plant preparation and harvesting, begins in a cultivation facility where the cannabis flowers are carefully cut from the root ball, placed into vacuum-sealed bags, labeled for tracking, and placed into a deep freezer to prepare for extraction. After the product is frozen, the material is weighed and transferred into stainless steel columns for processing.


2. LIGHT HYDROCARBON PROCESS

The cannabis plant produces an oleoresin, which contains medicinal inorganic byproducts. Due to the polarity of the oleoresin, the light hydrocarbon process is extremely effective. The light hydrocarbon process extracts three major byproducts from the plant— cannabinoids, terpenes, and plant lipids. This creates an oil that can be consumed orally, inhaled, and applied topically. Moxie  is committed to extracting these compounds using clean, safe and efficient means. 

 


3. Degasification

The final step is vacuum degasification, which removes the solvent from the cannabis oil for safe consumption. A vacuum pump continually evacuates the atmosphere of a vacuum purge oven, causing the boiling point of the cannabis oil and solvent to decrease. Gentle heat is applied to the oven which boils the remaining solvent out of the cannabis oil. This degassing process will continue for two to three days until the solvent is removed, resulting in clean, safe cannabis oil ready for patient use.
